I like the use of terms like "iron bird," which evokes a cold modernism, and then using a phrase like "all my life is leavened," which gives a very old, biblical feel. Also, i notices the "Ds" of "dear and dauntless" and the "Ss" of "Stand and Strive." Very effective.
